The drive from Wimberley to Blanco is a beautiful Texas country road. Make sure to take Ranch Road 32 over the Devil's backbone that suddenly rises to 1,274 feet above sea level. Look for the roadside park with a view of the ridge and the surrounding valleys. The Devil's backbone is said to be haunted, and locals claim to have seen or heard the ghosts of Spanish monks, Native Americans, and early settlers. Once in Blanco, you can access the park from U.S. 281. It is a 104.6-acre park, along a mile of the Blanco River. It features camping, picnicking, screened shelters, swimming, tubing, nature trails, and a wildlife viewing station.

This small park hugs a one-mile stretch of the river. On the water, you can swim, fish, paddle or boat. On land, you can picnic, hike, camp, watch for wildlife, and geocache.
